Merck, Box Rose Premarket; Salesforce Falls -Breaking

  • SalesforceThe stock of (NYSE) dropped 6.5% due to disappointing profit guidance for current quarter. This was in spite of fierce competition from Microsoft (NASDAQ). 

  • MerckThe stock price of the (NYSE: ) increased 0.8% as a panel representing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration voted in favor to authorize the drugmaker to make an antiviral treatment for Covid-19.

  • Box (NYSE:) stock rose 9.3% after the software company beat quarterly  expectations on both the top and bottom lines, helped by its performance in the Content Cloud market.

  • American Airlines(NASDAQ:) Stock rose 1.6% DeltaThe stock of (NYSE: ) rose 2.2% United(NASDAQ) Stock rose 1.8% because airlines rebounded while cruise companies declined Norwegian Cruise Line (NYSE:), Carnival(NYSE: Royal Caribbean (NYSE) All rose above 2.5%

  • Exxon Mobil The stock price of (NYSE:) rose 1.9% Chevron The stock price of (NYSE:) rose 2% Occidental PetroleumThe stock of (NYSE) rose 3.9% because crude prices increased more than 4 percent.

  • Allbirds The stock of (NASDAQ:) fell 4.7% as the retailer for shoes reported an even larger loss despite 33% increase in quarterly sales.

  • Hewlett Packard EnterpriseStock fell 1.4% on the NYSE after the company, an information technology firm, exceeded profit expectations for fiscal fourth quarter earnings. However it issued guidance regarding first quarter earnings that was light.

  • Ambarella(NASDAQ) Stock rose 15% on the news that the semiconductor company released a stronger-than-expected quarter-end report. The strong sales of computer-vision chips helped to propel it up. 

  • Lennar (NYSE:) stock rose 3.8% after Goldman Sachs (NYSE:) upgraded its investment stance on the real estate company to ‘buy’ from ‘neutral’, seeing 33% upside, thanks to sustained strong demand for new homes in the U.S.

  • DR Horton (NYSE:) stock fell 0.1% after Goldman downgraded its stance on the home construction company to ‘neutral’ from ‘buy’, saying upside in this stock is now limited.
