SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters] – Nuro, a self-driving startup in tech that uses self-driving technology to deliver goods and services autonomously in California, announced Wednesday that the company was collaborating with 7-Eleven. 7-Eleven is a convenience store operator.

Nuro, Waymo and other competitors are planning or launching autonomous delivery services in the United States. They have received regulatory approval. The services may not include driverless vehicles.

Nuro indicated that Toyota Priuses will be converted into autonomous vehicles as part of the new service. The driver will also monitor and assist with technology changes.

“The Priuses are the first step in Nuro’s multi-phase approach to introducing commercial autonomous delivery to select service areas,” Nuro said in a statement, adding that the company and 7-Eleven will make the joint decision to introduce Nuro’s R2 driverless vehicles “as soon as possible.”

Customers in Mountain View, where Nuro’s headquarters is located, will have access to the service. Nuro indicated that it already delivers Domino’s Pizza’s (NYSE:) products to Houston using the Prius or R2 vehicles.

7-Eleven is a unit of Japan’s Seven & I Holdings Co.

Nuro, a startup that developed autonomous vehicles, was granted a permit by the California Department of Motor Vehicles to operate automated vehicles in business last December. Cruise and Waymo also received permits in September.

Nuro stated earlier in the month that Alphabet (NASDAQ) Inc had raised $600 Million and brought Alphabet’s Google on board as its investor.

Waymo is Alphabet’s autonomous vehicle that will deliver grocery orders from Safeway in San Francisco. It uses its automated vehicles to do so, Tekedra Makana, the co-CEO, of Waymo told a Forbes conference on Tuesday.

Waymo stated that the service would begin in 2022. It will initially be offered to employees of Safeway and Waymo before expanding to other customers.

Waymo plans to use Jaguar I-PACES autonomous vehicles with safety drivers. This will be Waymo’s first self-delivering grocery experience in San Francisco.
