WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump’s new social media company appears to have missed the November deadline it set to release an invitation-only beta version of “Truth Social,” its purported alternative to Twitter.

Official announcements regarding a beta launch have not been made. There has also been no sightings online of any images or information about the platform.

The price of stock also fluctuates. Digital World Acquisition Corp. –  the SPAC company that plans to merge with Trump’s social media firm – has dropped dramatically since its share price exploded when the deal was announced in late October.

The shares of DWAC were trading as high as $175 per shareThey traded around $42 per Share on Wednesday, just after the news of the merger had been made public.

Technology companies often miss product releases deadlines.

But the November launch date that Trump Media & Technology Group set for “Truth Social” was the first clear test of whether the company could deliver on its promises to investors who bought stock in DWAC.

CNBC asked representatives from TMTG or DWAC to respond immediately to inquiries about Truth Social.

DWAC (special purpose acquisition company) was also called a blank check business. In September, it had an initial public sale that brought in approximately $290 million.

On October 20, DWAC declared that it would merge with Trump’s new TMTG. in a deal that valued the resultant firm at up to $1.7 billion.

In its own announcement, Trump Media & Technology Group said it “will soon be launching a social network, named ‘TRUTH Social.'”

However, Truth Social was just a landing page and an application form for the “waiting lists” as of Wednesday.

It appears to not have changed from its initial launch in October and still has the Sept. 20 privacy policy.

Trump supporters also made it a symbol of their support by owning shares of DWAC. The company was owned by several of former President Trump’s strongest backers, including Congressman John Bolton.

The speculation frenzy quickly ended.

The stock market began falling within a week and has continued to decline steadily since then.

Even though Wednesday’s trading level was about $42 per stock, it is more than four-times the price before the deal. However, people who purchased DWAC shares in the height of the excitement and then held onto the stock would have watched most of the value of their investment evaporate.

Truth Social would be a platform for Trump if it launches, as was promised. Trump has been banned from Twitter and Facebook following the Jan. 6th storming at the U.S. Capitol.

Trump cannot communicate with his followers directly online so has had to rely only on press releases and guest appearances on news stations.
