WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. private employers continued to hire at a rapid pace in November, despite worker shortages remaining a problem.

The ADP National Employment Report on Wednesday showed that private payrolls increased by 534,000 positions last month. A slight revision to the October data showed that 570,000 jobs were added, instead of the initial reported 571,000.

Reuters polled economic experts and found that they predicted an increase in private payrolls of 525,000 jobs.

Moody’s Analytics (NYSE:) Analytics jointly created the ADP report. It was released before Friday’s Labor Department’s comprehensive and highly watched employment report. However, it has a bad record of predicting private payrolls in the Bureau of Labor Statistics employment report. This is due to methodology differences.

Economists anticipate that November’s job gains will be even greater. Between mid-October to mid-November, the number of first-time applicants for unemployment benefits fell. In November, the Conference Board’s labor-market differential (derived from consumer views about whether it is easy or difficult to find jobs) jumped to an all-time high.

However, a lack of skilled workers due to the COVID-19 epidemic is limiting job growth. At the end September, there were 10.4 millions job opportunities.

A Reuters survey by economists found that private payrolls increased by 530,000 jobs in November. As government employment is forecast to have recovered by 20,000 it would mean that overall payrolls will rise by 550,000 jobs.

In October, 531,000 new jobs were created in the economy.
