REUTERS/Emily Elconin/File photo(Reuters) – Kellogg NYSE: Co reached an agreement on Thursday with the union for a new five year contract for its workers at a few breakfast-cookie plants in the United States. It announced this on Thursday, nearly two months after the strike.
According to the company, this tentative agreement was reached following multiple negotiations with the union. It includes wage hikes and benefits for all employees, as well as a “defined path” for legacy wages and temporary worker benefits.
Kellogg stated that the union expected employees to vote for the tentative agreement.
Kellogg’s employees went on strike Oct. 5, after their contracts were expired. Negotiations over benefits and payment had stalled because of differences between Kellogg and approximately 1,400 union members.
Kellogg has hired permanent replacements in place of some striking plant workers, following a rejection by the union earlier this month.
