Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova Auctions Her Bottle of Blood and Freedom Certificate as an NFT

Pussy Riot was a feminist group that protested the NFT in early 2021. PleasrDAO, a network of DeFi professionals, digitals artists and NFT collectors, is the movement that created this group.

Tolokonnika’s artwork “Drink My Blood” includes an unreleased song titled “Anthem” from Pussy Riot group, a bloodstained freedom certificate (issued on her release from prison in 2013), in a physical form and as an NFT.

Pussy Riot’s leader drank blood to obtain her freedom certificate. This will continue her two-year imprisonment. Her blood represents the camp labor she did 17 hours each day sewing police uniforms.

Tolokonnika wrote a tweet (NYSE:

Due to being slave-labeled, I suffered multiple injuries. It was my intention to show the horrors that a prisoner experiences. The collector will receive a bottle of my blood.”
Artist’s blood vial as a digital asset will be issued to every bidder. The auction winner will receive the physical bottle of Tolokonnika’s blood along with a digital certificate. Physical certificate, which still counts as a part of the art, won’t be part of the auction for legal purposes.

“Drink My Blood” is a follow-up to Tolokonnikova’s “Virgin Mary, Please Become A Feminist” NFT art intervention, which she hand-drew over her prison sentencing documents. In September 2021 the NFT sold for 40ETH.

This auction will take place at the FWB gallery. It runs for 24 hours from 7 p.m. EST on 2/12.
