Biden presides over National Christmas Tree Lighting at start of holiday season -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden was joined by his wife Jill at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony held outside the White House. This ceremony helped usher in holiday season.

The program featured performances from Patti LaBelle and Billy Porter. President presided over the countdown, which ended with a glowing tree with a star at its top.

Biden stated that the evergreen tree reminds him that, even during the darkest and coldest winter days, life will continue to flourish.

President Obama, in announcing Thursday new measures against the COVID-19 winter pandemic, paid tribute on Thursday to those who have lost loved ones due to the coronavirus.

Biden stated, “Jill and me are very grateful to our military personnel and their families.” We also remember those who have lost their loved ones due to this virus, or other unfortunate twists of fate or accidents.

Bidens will be spending the holiday season at White House with their first president and first wife. Holiday decorations were revealed earlier this week.

Vice President Kamala Harris, and Doug Emhoff (her husband who is Jewish), celebrated Hanukkah Wednesday with the lighting of the White House menorah.
