(Reuters] -Kellogg Co reached an agreement on Thursday with the union for a new five year contract for employees at a few breakfast-cookie plants in the United States. It announced the announcement almost two years after the strike.

According to the company, this tentative agreement was reached following multiple negotiations with the union. It includes wage hikes and benefits for all employees, as well as a “defined path” towards legacy wages and transitional benefits.

According to Kellogg (NYSE : ), the union hopes employees will vote for the most recent tentative agreement.

Kellogg’s employees went on strike Oct. 5, after their contracts were expired. Negotiations over benefits and payment had stalled because of differences between Kellogg and approximately 1,400 union members.

Kellogg hired permanent replacements to replace some strikers from its plants workers after the union had rejected an earlier offer.
