WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are working with local authorities in order to investigate suspected cases of Omicron variant COVID-19 cases that have not been reported yet. This was stated by its director on Friday.

Rochelle Walensky, CDC Director, stated that Omicron has been detected in approximately 40 countries during a briefing at the White House.

Omicron seems to be the main focus. We should not forget that 99% of the cases currently in the country are the Delta variety. “Delta continues to drive the number of cases, especially among unvaccinated people,” she said.
