Whit Gibbs is an industry advisor and industry expert who claims that the United States government has already started mining.

Gibbs made the incorrect claim during a December 1 interview with Anthony Pompliano of the Best Business Show. The pair were discussing BTC mining countries.

El Salvador, unlike most other countries that are secretive about Bitcoin mining, has made it clear. Pompliano then mentioned Venezuela, before asking Gibbs about what the US would need to do to begin mining the flag cryptocurrency.

It was at this point that Gibbs confidently stated that “the United States is already mining…” before realizing himself and belatedly added the word, “maybe.” He added:

It is possible that they have power somewhere in the Midwest, with 10-20 watts. Maybe. It’s hypothetically speaking.

Although Gibbs kept trying to retract his previous affirmation, his next statement didn’t really help matters.

This is the foundation of many financial instruments. It would be absurd for any nation to deny access to its infrastructure. It seems that the US has the advantage. We’ve had a lot of conversations with the government in DC [and]They work with the state to educate their children, and they have an innovative approach to supporting them.

A little off-topic, he said that Bitcoin mining is a fantastic way for emerging nations to catch up to already advanced countries. The Compass Mining CEO further suggested that El Salvador’s proactive moves with the digital gold will prove to be a masterstroke over the course of the next 20-30 years.

Pompliano attempted to get more information from Gibbs, inviting him to play story poker. He sensed that Gibbs was eager to share the details. He gave details about a US law enforcement agency involved in Bitcoin mining.

Pompliano claimed that an agency found it difficult to approve a Bitcoin purchase. But, that they could increase their budget to allow them to create their own Bitcoins for covert operations. He stated that an agent had told him secretly that such mining was going on since 2013.
