NEW YORK (Reuters] – According to a New York document, the U.S. Department of Justice investigated sexual harassment claims against Andrew Cuomo. The allegations were made by former New York Governor.

It contains information about the contract New York officials had approved for legal services earlier in the week. This was to help the governor’s office respond to numerous federal and state inquiries into Cuomo’s finances.

The contract states that the DOJ “has also initiated an inquiry regarding sexual harassment claims levelled against the governor”.

Cuomo was also accused of sexual harassment. The records show that Cuomo had been subject to other inquiries about his handling of deaths related to coronavirus in nursing homes. Last summer, the DOJ blocked a civil rights inquiry into Cuomo’s handling of nursing home deaths.

There are also questions over Cuomo’s use of state resources for a book about his leadership in the pandemic.

An immediate response was not provided by the DOJ to our request for comment. Cuomo couldn’t be reached for comment.

The New York Post first reported news about the DOJ probe contract.

Cuomo was a Democrat and he resigned after falling under increasing legal pressure. This followed a report by Letitia James, the state attorney general, that revealed Cuomo’s shocking behavior. Cuomo was found to have sexually harassed eleven women and tarnished the reputation of his three-term tenure as governor.

An investigation https://www.reuters.com/world/us/cuomo-engaged-sexual-harassment-state-assembly-probe-finds-2021-11-22 by the Democratic-led state Assembly, which threatened impeachment proceedings against him, also found that Cuomo sexually harassed women, used state resources for the book and released murky numbers on COVID-19 deaths at nursing homes.

Cuomo has denied all allegations against him. Cuomo said in August that he took full responsibility for his ill-conceived and inappropriate attempts at being affectionately or funny, but that he was willing to resign for the benefit of the state.

According to the former governor, James led an investigation that was political motivated. Rita Galvin, James’ lawyer, has asked her to withdraw from all investigations regarding Cuomo.

The current governor, Kathy Hochul, signed an agreement in October to retain the services of New York firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher. On Thursday, her office didn’t respond immediately to a request for comment.
