WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The Biden administration is in touch with federal law enforcement officers over a series of flash mob “smash-and-grab” robberies at U.S. retail shops. Jen Psaki, White House spokesperson said Friday.

Psaki stated that the Justice Department, FBI, and federal law enforcement have been in touch with areas where they’ve seen high levels of retail theft.

The United States is experiencing a wave of “smash and grab” crime, where thieves are stealing expensive items in brazen raids. There have been several high-profile thefts in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Psaki pointed out that the federal government has provided assistance to these Californian authorities.
