Iran retracted any concessions that it had made during previous negotiations on the renewal of 2015’s nuclear deal. It then took all other compromises and requested more in indirect U.S.-Iranian talks, a top State Department official claimed on Saturday.

According to a source, Iran is continuing its provocative nuclear programs and China was shocked by how much Iran had backtracked in the Vienna talks. The official spoke under anonymity.

As a result, indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran on saving 2015 Iran nuke deal were stopped Friday by European officials who expressed concern at the demands made by Iran’s current hardline government.

Vienna’s seventh round is attended by delegates from Iran, led by President Ebrahim Raisi. They discuss how to revive the deal that Iran signed in which it restricted its nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief.

According to a senior U.S. official, Iran “came with proposals that walked away from anything – any of Iran’s compromises here in the six rounds, but then took all of those compromises that other countries, including the U.S., made and asked for more.”

A U.S. official stated to reporters that he was not sure when the next round will resume. However, other officials indicated they would convene next week. And he said the important thing more than Iran’s willingness for negotiations.
