UTRECHT (Netherlands) – Thousands protested against the new coronavirus restrictions in Utrecht, a central Dutch city.

The banners that read “Medical Freedom Now!” were carried by protesters as they marched through the streets. The protesters carried Dutch flags, waving them. The march was observed by a large police presence.

This protest is the Netherlands’ first against such measures. They include closing bars, restaurants, and all stores at night in an effort to reduce the number of COVID-19-related cases.

Two weeks ago, violent protests broke out in the Netherlands after the government declared plans to prohibit most public areas from people who are not vaccinated. These plans are being opposed by many parties, even from the ruling coalition. They have yet to be implemented.
