(Reuters) – The Louisiana Department of Health announced late Saturday that 10 COVID-19 cases were discovered on a cruise ship with more than 3,000 passengers.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. owned the Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship. The vessel was on a one-week cruise and made stops in Mexico (Honduras, Belize, and Honduras), according to the agency.
The department tweeted that “NCL had been following appropriate quarantine protocols and isolation protocols”.
According to the ship’s itinerary, it will reach New Orleans Sunday morning.
Before leaving, everyone onboard will have their COVID-19 levels tested. They will also be given post-exposure and quarantine guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to the health agency, people with COVID-19 positive will be sent home to recover or isolated according to CDC guidelines.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings didn’t immediately reply to my request for comment after regular business hours.
