WASHINGTON (Reuters). Anthony Fauci is the U.S.’s top infectious disease officer. He expressed hope that the ban on travel from Southern African countries will be lifted within a “reasonable time”. This was after more information has been gathered about the Omicron coronavirus variant.

Fauci stated on CNN’s State of the Union that the U.S. government is aware of the difficulties the ban travel to these countries causes and they are continually reviewing the policy.
