Sexual misconduct allegation led to CNN’s Chris Cuomo firing

A sexual misconduct allegation led to the firing of CNN primetime anchor Chris Cuomo, attorney Debra Katz said Sunday.
Katz stated that her client (who she did not name) came forward following comments Cuomo made on air about caring for sexual harassment and after he revealed that he had helped his brother, the former governor of New York. Andrew Cuomo responds to allegations of sexual harassment.
Katz released a statement, “Hearing Chris Cuomo’s hypocrisy and discrediting these women’s efforts to discredit them, my client retained counsel to file a CNN report on his sexual misconduct against me.”
CNN reported her allegations, she stated, and she offered “documentary proof” to support them.
Katz explained that her client came forward to Katz because she thought sharing her story, and the supporting documentation could be of help for other women.
Steven Goldberg, spokesperson for Chris Cuomo issued an earlier statement on Sunday, in which he denied the accusations.
To the extent they were sent by CNN to debunk what Chris Cuomo had told his audience, he stands behind his comments on air regarding his connections to these issues. This is both professional and deeply personal. Goldberg stated that if the purpose of making false accusations and not being verified was to have Mr. Cuomo punished at CNN, it may account for his termination.
