BERLIN, (Reuters) – Investor sentiment in the Euro zone fell to its lowest level in April after renewed restrictions were imposed to limit a fourth round of coronavirus infected. A survey was released Monday.

Sentix’s index for eurozone fell to 13.5, from 18.3 the month before. A Reuters poll found that analysts expected December to have a reading of 15.9.

Manfred Huebner, Sentix’s Managing Director, stated that tightened security measures in Germany and Austria have significantly lowered the evaluation of the current situation in the Euro zone.

It is impossible to rule out a slowdown or even a recession. Huebner explained that lockdowns are hitting the economy even harder than they were before.

The current conditions index dropped to 13.8 from 23.5 in November for its third consecutive month. This is the lowest level since May. Still, expectations rose to 13.8 from the 13.3 previous month.

Sentix interviewed 1,164 investors Dec. 2 – 4.
