Metarex is Turning T-Rex Fossils into NFTs and Supports Academic Research
  • Metarex revolutionizes fossil trade using NFTs, smart contracts and Metarex.
  • This is a move that decentralizes fossil commerce and gives history back to the people.
  • Finally, museums can keep up with increasing asset costs.

Metarex will turn an authentic Tyrannosaurus-rex private fossil into an NFT collection. They are changing the way fossil ownership is done. NFTs are able to transform fossil ownership from private to public.

Metarex has now decentralized the fossil trading industry in order to make it possible for the T-rex to be sold. It uses its profits to keep the relic in museum care so that it is available for both academic and public research.

To begin, Metarex showcases its whitepaper for the world’s first collection of dinosaur-fossil NFTs. The brand’s mission is to keep this historic artifact out of the private hands and make it accessible to academies.

Metarex plans to launch 59,000 NFTs, which will contain the bones from 1 of 32 T.rex fossils. Smart contracts allow the purchase of fossils to be transferred to museums. This is where paleontologists can begin their research.

This is a simple reason why T-rex Stan was sold for nearly $32 million. This price is significantly higher than that of the original $8.3 million in 1997. This is a prohibitive price for museum owners. Blockchain technology offers a unique solution to this problem.

Each of the individual bones has 58,000 NFTs, while the T-rex’s whole body contains 1,000 NFTs. These are detailed 3D renderings of fossil bones. Each one also grants its owner 0.10% online IP rights for one of their chosen bones.

This NFT sale will begin on December 7, according to Metarex. It allows you to purchase using MetaMask, or any Ethereum-based wallet once you have passed a KYC. Likewise, COO and Co-Founder — Edwin Mata says,

This project is groundbreaking, considering how rare these fossils are, as there are only 32 Tyrannosaurus rex left in the world, we needed state-of-the-art blockchain technology for the Metarex, but it’s a true story that began 66 million years ago. This project bridges present, future and past while offering historical artifacts to scholars around the world.

Jeff Jaffrey is the CEO of NFT and the Co-Founder. He believes that the company has created the best thing in NFT history. “We are taking an actual Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton and sticking it onto the blockchain.”

To add on, he says, “What child did not dream of owning his own dinosaur?” Also, he notes that this project is creating previously non-existent funding from the crypto world for the academic sector. Finally, he emphasizes the fact that this NFT isn’t just any NFT. This is history! He ends by welcoming everyone to the NFT revolution.
