Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The gain was 0.95% by the Sydney closing bell.

They were the top performers at the session Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:) rose 9.92%, or 0.66 points, to trade at 7.31 at close. Zip Co Ltd (ASX) gained 9.91%, or 0.43 point to close at 4.77. Polynovo Ltd was also up 7.66% (or 0.105 points) to 1.475 late trade.

Magellan Financial Group Ltd. (ASX) was the worst performer of the session, falling 6.37%. This equates to a loss of 1.98 points. It closed at 29.10. Nickel Mines Ltd (ASX 🙂 dropped 4.30% or $0.60 points to finish at 1.335. Lynas Rare Earths Ltd Ltd (ASX 🙂 was down 3.15 or 0.290 to 8.910.

Stocks that are rising outnumbered those in decline on the Sydney Stock Exchange were 859 to 5,46, while 384 ended unaffected.

Magellan Financial Group Ltd. shares (ASX) plunged to 52-week lows. The share price fell 6.37% to 29, or 1.98 percent.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 10.16% to 13.280.

For February delivery, Gold Futures rose 0.25% to $1783.90 per troy an ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose by 1.18 or 1.70% to reach $70.67/barrel, and the February Brent Oil contract, which rose 1.53%, or 1.12, to trade at $74.20/barrel.

The AUD/USD rose 0.5% to 0.7088 while the AUD/JPY rose by 0.67%, to 80.51.

US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.4% to 96.198.
