Chewy Moves into Pet Insurance with Trupanion Partnership -Breaking

Investing.com — Chewy Inc (NYSE:)The online pet retailer ePetShop has entered the insurance market by forming a partnership. Trupanion Inc Tuesday’s announcement was made by the company (NASDAQ:).
Trupanion shares rose by more than 29% following the announcement. Chewy shares rose 3% since Monday’s closing.
Trupanion will partner with Chewy to offer pet insurance to over 20 million of its customers.
After launching Practice Hub (a platform for vets) in September, Chewy has made another step in the expansion of its pet health care services.
Chewy explained that Trupanion has partnered with Chewy so Chewy can use Trupanion software’s patent to pay veterinarians directly. This will reduce out-of pocket expenses and increase access to healthcare.
Chewy Health’s Mita Malhotra said: “The introduction of personalized care plans that are specifically tailored for customers is an important addition to the Chewy Health eco-system, furthering our mission to make pet health more affordable and available for all pet owners.”
