Fauci says early evidence points to Omicron being more transmissible but less severe -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters] – The Omicron coronavirus variant is more susceptible to transmission but has fewer severe complications, according to Anthony Fauci on Tuesday.

Fauci stated that Omicron patients in early stages seem to have fewer hospitalizations than those with Omicron, but more research is necessary.

Fauci stated that more data will be available next week but it would take several weeks for any conclusive conclusions.

According to Jeff Zients at White House COVID-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients the United States continues to review travel restrictions it placed on certain southern African countries after Omicron was detected. However, they will be in effect for “reasonable time”

Zients stated that the United States had administered approximately 12.5 million vaccinations over the past week. This is the most since May.
