(Reuters) – BioNTech Pfizer (NYSE) announced Wednesday that in laboratory testing, a three-shot COVID-19 shot was able to neutralize the Omicron variant.

BioNTech, Pfizer and others made the initial official statements from the vaccine makers regarding the efficacy of the shot against Omicron. They stated that although two doses of vaccine resulted significantly in lower levels of neutralising antibodies, a third dose increased neutralising antibody by 25.

They also stated that they could deliver an Omicron vaccine in March 2022 if necessary.
