(Reuters) – The sculptures of George Floyd und Breonna Taylor – the two Black Americans who were killed by police in 2020 — are being auctioned off to support the families of their loved ones.

Sotheby’s Auction House announced on Wednesday that Chris Carnabucci’s sculptures, which were on public display in New York City last year, will now be available for purchase at the Dec 9-17 online contemporary art auction.

Floyd was killed in May 2020 when a Minneapolis officer of color knelt against his neck for nine minutes while he arrested him. This incident led to Floyd becoming the spokesperson for the U.S. movement that challenged police brutality, bias, and inequity in American criminal justice. He was sentenced for 22 years.

Taylor was gunned down and killed by officers when they stormed Taylor’s Kentucky apartment in March 2020. Taylor’s death has not been linked to any of the officers.

Sotheby’s New York stated that the bronze-painted sculpture representing Floyd’s head in bronze measured 6 feet (1.8 meters) high was likely to sell for $100,000-150,000.

Taylor’s work measures less than four feet (1.2 meters) high. The original bronze finish has been restored with body art in black and white by Laolu, a Nigerian-bred performer. The pre-sale price is between $20,000 and $30,000.

Sotheby’s announced that proceeds will be donated to the We Are Floyd Foundation by Breonna Taylor Foundation. This foundation was established by the Taylor family in support of social justice.
