Top U.S. diplomat Blinken to visit UK, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is scheduled to travel to Britain as part of the Group of Seven ministers’ meeting, before traveling from December 9-17 to visit Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, according Wednesday’s statement by the State Department.

Blinken, a G7 member, will be speaking to G7 countries and those joining them as guests at the Liverpool meeting on December 10-12.

Security matters including the buildup of Russian forces on Ukraine’s border, COVID-19 vaccines, global infrastructure and growth in the Indo-Pacific region will be on the agenda, it said.

According to the department, Blinken will then go on to Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines between December 13-16, to talk about regional issues such as the Myanmar situation. On Dec. 17, he will make a final stop in Honolulu (Hawaii) to see Admiral John Aquilino, Commander of INDOPACOM.
