GM eyes $3 billion in investment in Michigan EV plants

(Reuters) – General Motors (NYSE 🙂 could invest up to $4 billion in Michigan-based electric vehicle manufacturing facilities, including one in partnership with LG Energy Solution.

If approved, GM will receive $3 billion from the overall investment in Michigan’s two EV projects.

According to a source, GM plans on building a new battery plant in Lansing that costs $2 billion, and also reorganizing its Orion Township assembly facility north of Detroit for $2 billion.

LGES and Lansing would split the costs of the Lansing Battery Plant.

According to a source, Orion, the Orion plant that makes the Chevrolet Bolt now would be transformed into products built using GM’s Ultium EV platform.
