Nassar victims reach $380 million settlement with USA Gymnastics, Olympic committee -WSJ -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Victims of disgraced former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar have reached a $380 million settlement with USA Gymnastics, U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and their insurers after a five-year legal battle, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

The newspaper reported that the settlement was approved at Monday’s hearing before a federal bankruptcy judge in Indianapolis.

Reuters was unable to verify immediately the settlement number.

The Journal stated that the settlement will be used to pay claims by Olympic gold medalists Simone Biles (Aly Raisman) and McKayla Maroney (all of whom are some of Nassar’s most well-known victims of sexual abuse.

Three women gave testimony about their experiences with abuse during the Senate hearing. They blasted U.S. gymnastics officials and Olympic officials for not stopping Nassar and took to task the FBI’s botched investigation of Nassar.
