Silicon Valley Bank to acquire research firm MoffettNathanson

SVB Financial GroupSilicon Valley Bank is the parent company. MoffettNathanson, a technology, media, and telecommunications research firm, agreed to purchase it.

It was not known what the financial terms were.

This deal brings together SVB’s technology-investment banking unit and a research section founded by Michael Nathanson and Craig Moffett.

Moffett has covered the telecommunications industryMore than 25 years. He spent a decade working at Sanford Bernstein, The Boston Consulting Group, and MoffettNathanson before cofounding MoffettNathanson. Nathanson was a journalist at Bernstein between 1998 and 2010, before moving to Nomura to cover until 2013.

The company stated that MoffettNathanson does not expect changes to its equity research clients. Nathanson and Moffett have both committed to SVB for a long time.

According to the statement, “We will soon begin working with SVB to greatly expand our capabilities and position us as the preferred partner of our clients,” said the company.
