Spain has no plan to sell Caixabank stake, minister tells Expansion -Breaking

MADRID (Reuters), Economy Minister Nadia Calvino told Expansion that Spain’s government has no plans to sell Caixabank.

Calvino stated that there is no intention or plan to sell the stake of the state. He spoke in an interview published Monday by the Spanish newspaper. “It is an extremely well managed lender,” she said.

According to Refinitiv data, after the merger of Caixabank with its smaller competitor Bankia Bankia, 16.12% was retained by government in Caixabank.

Officials had stated repeatedly that the government wanted to sell Bankia’s stake before the takeover.
