(Reuters] – On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a challenge by New York to New York’s refusal to permit religious exemptions from its mandate that certain health care workers be vaccinated for COVID-19.

In two instances, the justices denied an emergency request for an injunction that would have required the state to grant religious exemptions. Meanwhile, lower courts continue litigation regarding the legality of the mandate.

Conservative Justices Clarence Thomas (Conservative Justice), Samuel Alito (Conservative Justice) and Neil Gorsuch stated they would have issued the injunction.
