Investing.com — U.S. stock prices opened lower Monday, as investors were less willing to take on risk ahead of Tuesday’s Federal Reserve policy-setting meeting.

The index was at 35.937 points by 9:45 ET (1445 GMT) and had fallen 133 points. It was 0.2% lower than the previous day and was less than 0.1% higher.

After digesting a series of inflation numbers, the market had this weekend to process them. This gives the Fed the right to speed up the end of bond purchases as well as increase its rate of hike to one point by the second half of 2022. While the only thing that could stop it from moving forward seems to be the Omicron Omicron-Covid-19 strain, which has little evidence to suggest that it would cause an economic slowdown to prevent the central banks tightening.

Another asset market was affected by risk aversion. Cryptocurrencies fell once again in the last year, when it’s easy for investors older than 65 to make a profit. Also, the Omicron forecasted that there would not be any impact to Omicron’s global demand and it did so even though they fell.
