Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index fell 0.2% at the NSE close.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (NS:) was the best performer of the session. It rose 3.84%, or 7.85 points, to close at 212.25. Divi’s Laboratories Ltd., (NS:), gained 2.74% to reach 4654.40. Nestle India Ltd. (NS:), was up 1.5%, or 256.80 Points to 19238.80 by late trade.

These were the worst performers of the session. ITC Ltd (NS): The stock fell by 2.56%, or 6.00 points, to close at 228,60. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS.:) dropped 2.12% or 152.85 points to reach 7065.90. Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (NS.:) was down 1.94 or 14.60 to 739.50.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.84% to 212.30, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.05% to settle at 4646.75 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.03% to close at 19197.90.

ITC Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 2.73% at 228.30 in late trading. Bajaj Finance Ltd. (BO) lost 2.10% at 7068.65. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. was also down at close with a drop of 1.75% at 1840.45.

By 911 to 889, falling stocks outnumbered advancing stock on India National Stock Exchange. 19 closed unchanged. The Bombay Stock Exchange had 1765 rise and 1451 decline, with 113 remaining unchanged.

The February delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.23%, or 4.15, to $1784.15 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 0.04 or 0.06% to reach $71.33/barrel in January, and February Brent oil, which rose 0.03 or 0.04% to trade at $74.42/barrel.

USD/INR rose by 0.16% to 75.884, while EUR/INR rose by 0.46% at 85.8750.

US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.4% to 96.140.
