(Reuters) – Kim Kardashian cleared a major hurdle on her unorthodox quest to become an Attorney.
The reality television star and entrepreneur said Monday on Twitter (NYSE:) that she passed California’s First-Year Law Students’ Examination—a daylong test required of aspiring lawyers in the state who are not taking the traditional path of attending an accredited law school.
“OMFGGGGGGGG I FAILED THE BABY BRIDGE EXAM!”!” she wrote to her 70.7 million followers, posting photos of herself posing in a bright blue jumpsuit. “For anyone who doesn’t know my law school journey, know this wasn’t easy or handed to me.”
Passing the test—better known as the baby bar—means Kardashian can continue her legal studies and will be able to take the full bar exam. In 2019, she stated that she had been studying to be a lawyer. She was enrolled in the Law Office Study Program. This program allows potential attorneys to train under an experienced judge or lawyer.
California is one of only a few states to have such a program.
Kardashian failed the Oct 26 exam. Pass rate information wasn’t available yet, however 21% passed the June test–less then half of what was required to pass the state’s regular bar exam.
On Monday, the State Bar of California stated that baby bar results were confidential and could not confirm Kardashian’s passing.
Kardashian is the daughter of Robert Kardashian. Simpson’s defense team during his 1995 murder trial, has previously said that she wants to become a lawyer to work on criminal justice reform.
Kardashian thanked Jessica Jackson on Twitter for bringing her along to watch their court appearances and is currently studying under Erin Haney’s supervision.
Kardashian mentioned that she has failed the exam three more times before passing. That made this her final opportunity: California typically allows people to take the First-Year Law Students’ Examination just three times but gave anyone who failed the June 2020 exam one extra try due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Steve Calandrillo from the University of Washington, a University of Washington law professor who taught Kardashian contracts via Zoom in preparation for the exam, said, “I’m so happy for them.” She has been working so hard over the past two years. The exam is difficult.
