Ocado wins patent infringement trial in ITC against AutoStore -Breaking

(Reuters) – Ocado, a British online grocery chain (LON:), Group Plc announced Monday that it won a lawsuit for patent infringement filed by AutoStore (Norwegian robotics company) at the International Trade Commission.

AutoStore filed suit last year in the United States as well as the United Kingdom claiming it was the rightful owner and inventor of Ocado’s patents.

According to a British statement, Ocado was not able to infringe the fourth patent. However, three of the four AutoStore patents had been declared invalid by the ITC Chief Administrative Law Judge.

AutoStore requested Ocado to stop Ocado’s and its associates from manufacturing and selling these products, as well as from importing the same into the United States.

Ocado reported that AutoStore dropped claims on a fifth patent just hours before trial.

Ocado spokeswoman said that Ocado has consistently maintained that Ocado did not violate any AutoStore IP.

AutoStore was accused of infringing its European and American patents. The supermarket company said that it is continuing to pursue these claims.

AutoStore could not be reached for comment after hours.
