The company has a market cap of $2.47 billion and is a strong competitor to AAPL. MSFT was actually briefly ahead of AAPL in market capital to be the most valued company in October. Both AAPL and MSFT are currently racing to become the world’s first three trillion-dollar company. MSFT shares rose 53.3% last year, while AAPL’s share price has risen 43.2%. In terms of year-to-date performance, MSFT is the clear winner with 47.6% gains vs. AAPL’s 31.4% rise. However, MSFT’s shares are down 2.5% while AAPL has risen 16.2% in the past month.
