Stephen Curry is now at the top of the NBA 3-pointers record.
Curry made his 2,974th 3 pointer on Tuesday night against the New York Knicks in the Golden State Warriors’ first quarter. This broke Ray Allen’s record.
Curry made the shot on the right side with 7:33 left. He waved his arms towards the sky and jogged down the court, waving his arms at the heavens as he hit the shot. After the Warriors had committed fouls, they called timeout and let the party begin. Curry hugged coach Steve Kerr and Draymond, his long-time friend, while Allen was there.
Curry is frequently regarded as the league’s best shooter. The numbers support this claim. He already owns two of the top three seasons for 3-pointers — including the only season with 400 3s — and now has the career record Allen had held since passing Reggie Miller in 2011.
Curry set the record at Madison Square Garden. He made 11 3-pointers on February 27, 2013 and had 54 points. He went on to win three titles and two MVP awards, while also becoming one of basketball’s biggest stars.
Kerr explained that fans will be attracted by Kerr’s humility, his story, and the hard work he has put in.
