Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index declined 0.65% at the NSE close, and the Dow fell 0.57%.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., which gained 2.52% (or 19.05 points) to close at 775.10. Meanwhile, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS) was up 1.45%, or 26.60 point to reach 1867.00 Mahindra & Mahindra Late trade saw a 1.12% increase in Ltd. (NS) to 846.20, or 9.35 point.

These were the worst performers of the session. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS) fell 3.09%, or 218.65 point to trade at 6847.55 at the closing. Bajaj Finserv Ltd. declined 2.80% or 462.80 point to finish at 16660.70. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. was down 2.38%, or 18.20 to 745.50.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.59% to 775.55, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.48% to settle at 1867.75 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.06% to close at 843.65.

Bajaj Finance Ltd.(BO:), which fell 3.10% to 684.80 in late trading, Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (“BO:”) which dropped 2.55% to settle to 16693.00 and ITC Ltd. ($BO:), which declined 1.88% towards 224.00 by the end.

India National Stock Exchange: Falling stocks outnumbered the advancing ones by 1034-746. 34 was unchanged. On Bombay Stock Exchange: 1677 rose, 1560 fell, while 116 ended the same.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was increased by 1.56% to 17.2175.

The February delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.19%, or 3.35, to $1768.95 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 0.67 or 0.95% in January to reach $70.06/barrel, and February Brent oil, which fell 0.55 or 0.75%, to trade at $73.15/barrel.

USD/INR was at 76.290 by 0.33%, and EUR/INR at 85.9410 by 0.40%.
