(Reuters) –Delta Air Lines Inc stated Wednesday that it anticipates being profitable in 2022. This is despite the fact that Omicron virus cases have risen, which has led to a reimpositioning of travel restrictions around the globe.

Company stated that it expected to make an adjusted pre-tax profit in excess of $200 million for the December quarter

In October, the carrier had reported a fourth-quarter pretax loss due to higher fuel prices. Now, it expects fuel costs per gallon to be between $2.20 – $2.30 as opposed to the earlier forecast of $2.25 – $2.40.

The Atlanta-based airline saw a 450% increase in international bookings over the past six weeks, since September 20, when the United States announced it would be reopen to fully-vaccinated travelers.
