Ryanair sees Omicron hit to December, January capacity -Breaking

DUBLIN (Reuters), Ryanair is expecting to fly 10% fewer passengers this December than in January, according to Group Chief Executive Michael O’Leary. This was in response to concerns from customers about Omicron COVID-19.

O’Leary quoted O’Leary saying that O’Leary believes the airline will fly around 10 million more people than it had predicted. O’Leary said the airline also plans to reduce about 10% its January capacity.

“Where it’s really hit us has been the early weeks of December, bookings in and out of Ireland and the UK … The rest of the continent is still travelling for business and for leisure,” O’Leary said, describing Christmas as “well booked”.

The panic seems to be confined to Ireland and the UK. O’Leary stated that Omicron has received a more rational approach across the continent.
