REUTERS/Elizabeth FrantzWASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden appeared to admit that the Senate may not approve his Build Back Better bill in the final weeks of the year. He said Democrats would continue to push the legislation forward “in the days and week ahead.”
Senator Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democratic Leader has given a December deadline to pass the $1.75 Trillion social spending bill and the climate change bill.
Biden was in negotiations with Democratic Senator Joe Manchin. Manchin has withheld support for the bill. This has made Biden a crucial vote in the divided chamber.
Biden released a statement saying that “I believe we will bridge our disagreements and advance the Build back Better plan, even with fierce Republican opposition,”
Manchin said he had reiterated his support of the bill’s overall cost.
