Typhoon death toll in Philippines’ Bohol province hits 49

MANILA, (Reuters) – A total of 49 people have died in Bohol, a central Philippine province. It was one of the hardest-hit regions following a severe typhoon last week. Arthur Yap, the provincial governor, said this on Sunday as relief operations were continuing.

Official death toll, as reported by the National Disaster Agency, remains at 31. It does not reflect the latest numbers from Bohol.

When the disaster agency was asked about Bohol numbers they replied, “Yes, we are aware.” It said that their operations unit has yet to receive a provincial report.
