Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index dropped 2.09% at the NSE close.

They were the top performers at the session Cipla Ltd., which rose 3.9% or 33.60 to trade at 893.80 after the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) added 1.74% or 38.85 points to end at 2269.10 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) was up 0.95% or 42.75 points to 4560.70 in late trade.

These were the worst performers of the session. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd., which dropped 6.42% (or 24.70) to trade at 360.00 by the close. Tata Steel Ltd (NS) fell 5.22%, or 59.15 point to close at 1072.95 Tata Motors Ltd (NS): The drop in 4.92% was 23.15 points, to 447.05.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which rose 1.70% to 2268.30, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.94% to settle at 4559.35 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.05% to close at 3240.05.

Tata Steel Ltd.(BO:), which fell 5.20% to 1072.95 late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd.. (BO 🙂 lost 4.23% at 845.85, and State Bank Of India. The close was down 3.97% to 449.20.

On the India National Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 1619, 198, and 31 respectively. The Bombay Stock Exchange had 2621 fall and 728 advance, and 117 ended unchanged.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was 16.08% higher at 18.9650.

The February delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.38%, or 6.80, to $1798.10 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell by 2.66 or 3.75 to $68.20/barrel in January, and February Brent oil, which fell 3.05% or 2.24 trade at $71.28/barrel.

USD/INR fell 0.15% at 75.873, and EUR/INR rose 0.8% to 85.4710.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.1% at 96.555
