Because of safety concerns regarding Covid-19 and health, the January meeting in Davos will not take place.

The World Economic Forum announced Monday that it would postpone its annual meeting in Davos (Switzerland) due to continued uncertainty about the Omicron epidemic. The meeting is scheduled for the beginning of July.

This in-person meeting was scheduled for Jan. 17-21 with the goal of “economic, social, and political fault lines exacerbated due to the pandemic.”

Organisers claim that instead of holding a “State of the World”, sessions online will be offered “to help shape solutions for the world’s greatest challenges.”

WEF stated that coronavirus pandemic circumstances had made it difficult to organize a global in person meeting. They also said that due to the transmission of the Omicron Covid variant, and the impact this has on mobility and travel, deferral was necessary.

Davos is a landmark in international relations. It attracts heads from government and business leaders as well as activists from all walks of the globe to meet at picturesque Alpine ski resorts to address the most urgent issues facing the planet.

The World Economic Forum canceledA summer version of the meeting will be held in Singapore, August.
