Delta CEO asks CDC to cut quarantine time for breakthrough COVID cases -Breaking

(Reuters) – Delta Air Lines (NYSE 🙂 Chief Executive Ed Bastian asked Tuesday the head of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to reduce quarantine guidelines for individuals with breakthrough COVID-19 infection. Bastian cited the negative impact this would have on the carrier’s workforce.

Bastian wrote a letter asking for CDC Director Rochelle Walsky to reduce the 10 day quarantine recommended by the agency to anyone with a breakthrough COVID-19. Individuals could be released from isolation if they have been tested.

Bastian said that Omicron is spreading rapidly and will result in a 10-day quarantine for fully vaccinated people. This could adversely impact the workforce and operations. The Omicron surge could cause significant disruptions in healthcare, public transport, law enforcement, fire and police departments.

The CDC did not respond to our request for comment.
