Volkswagen says patent suit by Taiwan’s Acer is unfounded -Breaking

BERLIN (Reuters), -Volkswagen claimed that Acer’s allegations against the company were baseless after a publication reported that Acer had been sued by Taiwanese carmaker Acer for violating its patents on mobile networks.

WirtschaftsWoche, a German newspaper, reported Tuesday morning that Acer filed suit against Volkswagen in Virginia. Acer claimed that Volkswagen had not paid for patents and licences for 2G or 3G, but that it had installed a lot of 4G-compatible mobile phones in the last two years.

Volkswagen said to Reuters, “We will inspect the suit along with our suppliers and decide how we proceed.”

It stated that “at first glance, we have indications it is unfounded. We will defend our position,” but declined to give further information.
