Investing.com — BiondVax Pharmaceuticals Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:)Biopharmaceutical firm focusing on infectious diseases saw shares increase by more than doubling Wednesday. They are currently up 92% as of the writing.

The rise — to a high of $3.49 per share — came on the back of news that the company has signed agreements with the Max Planck Society, and the University Medical Center Göttingen, for the development and commercialization of Covid-19 nanosized antibody therapies. This builds on news from October, where BiondVax said it had signed a term sheet with Max Planck and the University Medical Center Göttingen to enter into a five-year research collaboration with an option for BiondVax to licence VHH antibodies.

Omicron’s rapid and recent emergence shows that COVID-19 needs better therapeutics. Innovative COVID-19 NanoAb candidates are a promising therapeutic platform.” Amir Reichman, BiondVax’s CEO.

BiondVax stated that the Covid-19 lead candidates are nano-antibody candidate and have a competitive advantage over other COVID-19 treatments.

These agreements form part of wider collaboration that is expected to take place in January 2022. This will include the development and commercialization nano-antibodies for many other diseases.

BiondVax has an exclusive worldwide licensing that will allow it to be the leader in development and marketing of BiondVax products. In 2023, human clinical trials are expected to be completed.
