In its global campaign to make a difference, Crypto.com becomes the first cryptocurrency platform to officially partner with a professional women’s sports team. Revealing the news, Crypto.com says it is now a founding partner of Angel City Football Club (ACFC) and the team’s official cryptocurrency and NFT partner.
By virtue of this recent alliance, the world’s fastest-growing cryptocurrency platform has deepened its relationship with Los Angeles and LA sports fans. Crypto.com supports financial education, independence, as well as financial empowerment for both fans and players.
Speaking on why they embarked on this valuable mission, the leading exchange says ACFC is mission-driven to create a different kind of football club that levels the playing field in women’s sports. Thus, mirroring Crypto.com’s mission to level the playing field financially through cryptocurrencies. Kris Marszalek (co-founder and chief executive officer of Crypto.com) affirms.
Web3 is an online community, dedicated to the advancement of the internet. Web3 is powered by cryptocurrency and will be owned by users, builders and creators. We’re thrilled to be joining ACFC as a founding partner, deepening our relationship with the City of Los Angeles while supporting a team that shares our values and is equally committed to helping people achieve financial independence and self-determination.
The latest developments follow the announcement of the naming rights agreement to the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles. Crypto.com is expected to increase awareness and access to cryptocurrencies, Blockchain and Web3 technologies by LA soccer fans and ACFC players as well as the larger ACFC organisation.
ACFC is leading the way in women’s sports, creating innovative partnership models and tapping into a diverse and dynamic ownership group that includes Alexis Ohanian, Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria, Jessica Chastain, Uzo Aduba, Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm, and more. Partnership will be focused on community engagement and financial equity as well as social impact initiatives. Alexis Ohanian is Seven Seven Six founder and ACFC Lead Founding Investor.
Since day one Angel City has committed to being a leader in women’s football by promoting innovation that propels the game forward. This thinking has driven our decision-making – from our community outreach efforts to our partnerships, down to the personnel we’ve hired – we continue to deliver on that promise daily. As an early adopter of crypto myself, today I’m proud that Angel City continues to lead the way as the first women’s professional sports team to partner directly with a major crypto platform. This partnership is a turning point for women’s sports and signifies the growing recognition of the power and influence they wield.
Crypto.com is working hard to increase access to cryptocurrency in diverse communities around the globe, not only Los Angeles which has become the capital of creativity. Crypto.com has achieved a lot by combining its efforts with ACFC, a forward-thinking pro sports team.
Julie Uhrman is the President and Co-Founder of ACFC.
Key to Angel City’s goal to drive equity for women is to empower them with the tools and resources to be financially independent. Web3 and cryptocurrency are changing the world at lightning speed. We want to make sure women can join us on this journey of creators and investors. Given their expertise in crypto and the mission of equalizing the game, it was a perfect fit to partner with Crypto.com. They are a great partner and we look forward to working with them.
STAPLES Center, the iconic, internationally recognized arena for sports and entertainment, will now be called the Crypto.com Arena. This is as a result of last month’s historic 20-year naming rights agreement between Crypto.com and AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, owner, and operator of the STAPLES Center. Upland Workshop was part of the ACFC/Crypto.com partnership to assist with this agreement.
Crypto.com’s growing portfolio of global sports partnerships with this recent alliance with ACFC, including UFC, F1, Paris Saint-Germain, and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, to the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, esports team Fnatic, and Lega Serie A, the Italian Football league and Twitch Rivals.
