BRASILIA, Reuters – Brazil’s November employment figures were revised to show a decline of 13.9% from last year. However, the country added a net 324 112 formal jobs.

However, this performance still marked an eleventh month of gains. The number of formal job creations so far in the year is now at 2.993,000,000, the highest total for that period of time in historical records, which began in 2010.

This increase was led in part by the service sector which added 180,960 jobs to November’s official payroll. The Labor Ministry covered four of the five major sectors, except for agriculture, which saw a net increase in employment.

The figures don’t include almost 40 million workers without documentation, or those who have not been registered for employment.

The ministry reported that the number of Brazilian workers who are officially registered was up 0.9% over the month before, at 41.552million.

However, earnings have slowed with the November average monthly salary for new jobs down by 1.75% to 1,779 Riis ($314.52).
