(Reuters) – The United States will waive in-person interviews for certain H-1B visa applicants and non-immigrant visa candidates through the next year, according to the State Department. This is in an effort to decrease visa wait times.

“The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in profound reductions in the department’s visa processing capacity,” it said in a statement. We are making these temporary measures to help us keep our promise to reduce wait times for visas while maintaining our national security priority as global travel recovers.
