Global airline carriers scrap more than 2,000 flights

(Reuters) – Global airline companies have canceled over 2,000 flights on Friday so far, FlightAware reported. This is a sign of the impact COVID-19 has had on holiday travel.

Website showed that 2,028 worldwide flights were cancelled at 8:20 AM Eastern Time (13320 GMT).

FlightAware stated that 448 cancellations had occurred within the United States, either into or out, as of Friday.

United Airlines and Delta Air Lines (NYSE 🙂 announced on Thursday they both had cancelled dozens of Christmas Eve flights as the Omicron coronavirus was affecting their flight crews.
